ABSTRACT: Whenever one tries to look up for the answer to this question on the Internet, statements like "Scala is complicated", "complex learning curve", "way better than Java", "this is the future" come up. This presentation is aimed to help all the programmers tempted and interested in giving Scala a try, yet do not know where to start from and why this might be a suitable solution for their needs. This "spoiler alert" should make one gain a clear perspective on the highlights of this programming language, stimulating enough curiosity for following the entire "series".
BIO: Bianca is a Software Developer at Endava Bucharest, currently focused on functional and reactive programming. With 2 years of experience in implementing and testing software, she has been involved in projects delivering financial, payments and banking services, continuously developing her knowledge on JVM based technologies. Scala has caught her interest one year ago, when she started working on a project with an innovative technology stack, focused on Scala, Akka and Spray.
