[Circuit Hike] Buckeye Trail Hike

Meet at 8:30 am at: 41.255114, -82.401898 Wakeman Community Park, W Main St, Wakeman, OH 44889

We will carpool back to Ommert Farm Trailhead 41.258347, -82.547119 Norwalk Township, Ohio on route 601.

Hike distance is 9.7 miles at point 18 of the Norwalk section.

Sunday March 15th 2026
Meet at 8:30 am at: The Rochester Town Park at the fire station. 200 Eagle Street Rochester, Ohio 44090. 41.123652, -82.305065

We will carpool back to Wakeman Community Park, W Main St, Wakeman, OH 44889 41.255114, -82.401898

Hike distance is 13.3 miles just past point 23 of the Norwalk section.

Distance is slightly longer than I prefer but there are no other parking options. I delayed posting until I personally found a parking spot. Parking lot is just off trail.

We will return to finish Road Fork in April.

Saturday April 11, 2026

We will return to Road Fork and Whipple sections of the trail for the warm season.

We will meet at 39.714932, -81.393562 along Rado Ridge road at a triangle of roads by 8:30 am. We will be parking in narrow areas along the roadway.

Please stay on road right-of-ways and respect private property. There are no trespassing signs throughout the area. I've used this location multiple times in the past.

We will carpool back to 39.775947, -81.503293 and will park in the grass along State Route 285 at Caldwell Lake road.

Hike distance is 10.4 miles.
Map points are 3 to about 8.5.
I would suggest having a "We are hiking the Buckeye Trail" style of sign to place in car windows.
Dog spray may be a bonus and is recommended.

Sunday April 12th. Road Fork
Hike distance is 9.2 miles
Road Fork points 8.5 to 12.5
All of this hike is on back roads. Hike distance is determined by parking best opportunities of which there are fewer in this area.

We will meet by 8:30 at approximately 39.673889, -81.289016
39482-39786 Cub Run Rd, Lower Salem, OH 45745. We will be parking along a gravel road in the right of way.

We will carpool back to 39.714932, -81.393562 along Rado Ridge road at a triangle of roads. I've parked in this location multiple times.

Please stay on road right-of-ways and respect private property. There are no trespassing signs throughout the area.

I would suggest having a "We are hiking the Buckeye Trail" style of sign to place in car windows with your telephone number.

I would also download the map area on Google maps beforehand. Cell phone service is intermittent at best.
Dog spray may be a bonus and is recommended.
