Mindfulness Walk in Downley - A moment of inner peace in muddy boots πŸ˜†

Starting at Downley Common next to the memorial hall ( https://goo.gl/maps/BCDNd3SQG2qdjWGP7 ), we'll walk down into the Hugenden valley through woodland. A beautiful walk to drink in the winter woods.

This walk does include a number of hills and a few steep paths (which we can take our time over!) but would not suit anyone who struggles with steeper ascents and decents.

There will be mud and puddles along the way so bring suitable walking shoes and clothing for the outdoors. Bring a waterproof too just in case we get rain.

The plan for the route:

  • Head down into valley though the woodland taking a minute or so to all walk in silence.
  • Jeremy will then talk through the concepts of mindfulness for those that are new to the idea.
  • When we reach Downley woods, Jeremy will lead a walking meditation through the picturesque winter woodland which will last around 10 minutes.
  • We'll continue on a circular route through Downley woods and into Hughenden Valley.
  • During this time we'll get a chance to chat and reflect ideas and thoughts and Jeremy will suggest a topic of discussion to get things going focussed upon a subject of self improvement or finding inner peace.
  • There may be some moments where we stop to enjoy the surroundings in silence.

This is not a route march :) We'll walk at a leisurely pace stopping whenever anyone feels the need. There's no judgement for wanting to get breather!

Route length: Approx 3.5 km / 2.2 miles.
Total ascent for the whole route: Approx 80m / 250 feet
