Note: New Starting Location is at the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust Visitor Center located at 2955 Edge Hill Road in Huntingdon Valley.

This will be a 5-6 mile loop with some rolling hills. Our path will take us through the wooded and meadow trails near the Visitor Center, on the Pennypack Rail Trail and the more scenic Creek Road Trail. We'll then take a short detour on local streets to get to the Bryn Athen Cathedral and Glencairn "Castle". Expect some rocky, gravelly and exposed root surfaces on the trails as well as several hills and muddy patches if recent rain.

It's Winter - Some icy patches possible - Feel free to pack your favorite traction devices and or poles just in case. I use Kahtoola MICROspikes.

This is a very scenic walk with multiple photo opportunities along the Pennypack Creek, Bryn Athen Cathedral and Glencairn Museum. Hopefully we'll spot eagles, herons and other wildlife along the way.

Option for lunch after hike at All Aboard Cafe in Bryn Athen.

We'll meet in the parking area near the visitor center. Restrooms or Port-a-Potty usually available at the trail entrance and at the halfway point.

Remember to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather in non-cotton layers. Bring water and a snack.

Steady rain cancels event. Update will be posted in Meetup by 6am the day of the event.

If you sign up for this event and your plans change, Please remember to update your RSVP in Meetup.
