Egrets and Ospreys at Cattus Island
Details
This will be a 5-6 mile round trip moderately paced, mostly flat hike on the trails of Cattus Island County Park along the bay in Toms River NJ. We will begin introductions in the Main Parking Lot at 10am. Restrooms are available in the Cooper Environment Center which is a short walk from the parking area.
Our path will take us to several Bird Observation Blinds and Osprey Nest Platforms as well as a stretch of beach along Silver Bay. Along the way, we'll traverse scenic boardwalks, sandy trails (possibly muddy if recent rain), beaches, salt marshes, a butterfly garden and a maritime forest.
Dress appropriately for the weather in non-cotton layers. Bring water and snacks. There is a picnic area for those of us who want to pack a lunch.
Members of all skill levels, whether using an iPhone or DSLR, will have many opportunities for photos while we are walking on this hike.
