What we’re about
Welcome to the Bucks County and Lehigh Valley Historic Tavern Trail! Bucks and Lehigh (and neighboring) Counties in Pennsylvania are rich in history, dating back to colonial times. This group will explore that history through the bars, pubs, taverns and restaurants that have served these communities for hundreds of years and played a part in the history of our nation. Think McCoole's Red Lion Inn, Brick Tavern Inn, Spinnerstown Inn, Jamison Publick House, Bethlehem Hotel and many more.
So if you're interested in meeting new people, socializing, soaking in the historic atmosphere and learning something about the history of these establishments, this group is for you.
Meetups will be monthly to semi-monthly at a rotating location, and most events will feature a historic presentation of some kind. Just casual get-togethers where we have a chance to mix-and-mingle, enjoy some food and drink, make intelligent conversation and learn something about the history of the venue where we're meeting. No dues, fees or cover charges, this is a fun thing for me, not a side hustle.

A Victorian Christmas in Sellersville: the Washington House Hotel (Encore)
Washington House, 136 N Main Street, Sellersville, PA, USSince this event was so popular, I've scheduled an encore presentation. So if you can take a Friday off, have vacation days to use before the end of the year, want to get a head start on your weekend, don't have to work anymore anyway, etc, please join us once again for drinks and lunch at the Washington House Hotel in Sellersville, Upper Bucks.
The current building dates to the 1850s, when the property was first issued a tavern license. It's long been cited as an example of Victorian decor and architecture that emerged as a trend in the American tavern in the middle of the 19th century. That atmosphere is preserved today and should be especially warm and inviting during the Christmas season.
A farmhouse stood on this site going back to colonial times and was known to host travelers along the old Bethlehem Pike. We'll learn about that history as well. We'll have a private room reserved in the oldest part of the current building, dating to at least the late 18th century.
Lunch reservation is at 12:30. We have to clear out by 3. Separate checks and regular restaurant menu. Sorry, we can only have 20 people tops with this setup. If you are already on the "going" list for December 6, please do not sign up for this event, give some other folks a chance. Thanks!
