Welcoming HiJinx Brewing to the Slate Belt
Details
You may have read that HiJinx Brewing recently relocated from Allentown to Tatamy, so we'll help them break in their new space at this meetup.
HiJinx Brewing opened its doors in Allentown in 2011, about four years after brewmaster Curt Keck started homebrewing in his garage. In 2014, HiJinx moved to a 4000-square foot facility on the south side of Allentown, upgrading from a one-barrel to a 10-barrel brewing system. Ten years later, the brewery added a second taproom in Upper Macungie.
But rising costs and changes in the craft beer landscape forced the brewery to reposition a bit. The Upper Macungie taproom closed early last year, then it shuttered its Allentown operations at the end of the year.
But in April, HiJinx was reborn in its new location at the Tatamy Fire Co. hall (see taproom photo to the right), pouring favorites like Barista’s Coffee Porter, Wicked White (wheat beer), Citra Squeeze (IPA) and Pub Crawl (English-style bitter).
HiJinx's Stolen Heart Raspberry Imperial Stout won best of show at last year's Great Allentown Fair. It also won first-place ribbons for Wicked White, Waynestock Pale Ale, Scarlet Fire Red IPA, Danger Zone Golden Strong Ale, Sour Cherry Ale and Lucky 13 Imperial Stout.
We'll get things started at 12:30. They're working on getting food service or a food truck there, otherwise, we'll bring/order in food. Always fun to check out a new space and celebrate the rebirth of a local brewery. See you there!
