West End Allentown Doubleheader: Illumination/Funk Brewing and Weyerbacher

A couple of our Lehigh Valley mainstay breweries have opened taprooms in the west end of Allentown in the last year or so. With the way things are changing in the local brewing industry, let's check them out while we still can.

We'll start with drinks and lunch at Funk/Illumination Brewing's West End Taproom. It's a full-service restaurant featuring a selection of Funk drafts and canned beers.

From there, we'll head a few blocks away to Weyerbacher Brewing's Allentown Taproom and Biergarten, a mostly outdoor space adjacent to the Allentown Fairgrounds. No food there, but plenty of classic Weyerbacher beers. And maybe some from Barley Creek too. If you want to stick around for dinner, the Fairgrounds Hotel is right next door. Other West End Allentown mainstays like Ringer's Roost, Henry's Salt of the Sea and Tavern on Liberty are close by as well. Live music on the outdoor stage at Weyerbacher at 6 p.m., featuring the Just Imagines.
