What we’re about
The Upper Bucks County/Lehigh Valley area has become a hotbed of activity in the beer and wine world in recent years and this group will explore this booming part of our local economy and culture.
There are more than 20 microbreweries in this region and more than 30 wineries. Brewpubs, craft beer bars and wine bars are also fair game for this group. We'll learn about the beer and wine-making process and of course get to sample the fruits of our local entrepreneurs' labors.
Expect monthly meetups, tours, tastings and just hanging out, making new friends and enjoying good times, and maybe some scenic views in the process. Whether you're into beer, wine or both, or just interested in exploring and getting to know the area better, this group is for you.
No dues, fees or cover charges, this is a fun thing for me, not a side hustle.
See you on the trail!

See all- Walk and Brews Part 2: Ironton Rail Trail Loop and Hawk Mountain BreweryHawk Mountain Brewery , Whitehall , PA
In keeping with the theme this month, we're going to schedule another trail walk and brewery event, this time heading to Whitehall to walk the 5-mile Ironton Rail Trail loop, then reward ourselves with beer and lunch at the Hawk Mountain Brewery.
Hawk Mountain opened its tap room in Whitehall just about a year ago, though it had been brewing beer at its production facility in New Tripoli for nearly five years before that. Current beers on tap include various IPAs, a nitro brown ale, a honey saison, a hefeweizen, a white wine/beer hybrid known as AlpenGlow, coffee stout, Czech-style pilsner, hard seltzer, and regular and light lagers. They also have a cocktail menu, plus wines from Weathered Vineyards and the Easton Wine Project. The onsite kitchen makes hot and cold sandwiches, hot dogs, wings, fries, pierogies, nachos and more.
Join us for the walk if you're feeling really ambitious in the morning. The walk will start from the Chestnut Street Trailhead, 3853 Chestnut St., in Whitehall. Plenty of parking there. After completing the loop, we'll drive to Hawk Mountain Brewery, about 2 miles away.
Otherwise, just meet at the tap room by 1ish for drinks and food. Should be fun either way. See you there!
Not open - Farewell to Summer at Sherman Street Beer Company in AllentownSherman Street Beer Company, Allentown , PA
We'll cap off another fun summer with drinks and lunch on the back patio at Sherman Street Beer Company on the east side of Allentown.
Owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Beau Baden and Casey DeCeia, Sherman Street Beer Company opened in 2021 in the former Mink's Candy Company facility in East Allentown. Beau was the former head brewer at Fegley's and has been in the industry for over 30 years.
Sherman Street pours a variety of lagers, pilseners, wheat beers and IPAs, plus amber ale, Belgian-style golden ale, Scotch ale, coffee imperial stout, hard ciders and teas. Wine from Tolino Vineyards in Bangor, sangria, slushies, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
Sherman Street operates their own kitchen, serving a variety of quesadillas, hot dogs, soft pretzel bites, hot sandwiches and their famous Big Ass Cookies.
We'll get things started at 12:30 and will plan to grab some picnic tables on the back patio, weather-permitting. If the weather's lousy, we'll meet indoors.
See you there as we say good-bye to summer and look to the fall.
- Final Farewell to Summer at Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery in BreinigsvilleClover Hill Winery, Breinigsville, PA
On this final weekend of summer, we'll cap off the season with a visit to one of the Lehigh Valley's oldest and most scenic wineries: Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery in Breinigsville.
Clover Hill celebrates its 40th anniversary this month and year. The winery was launched in Breinigsville in September, 1985 by John and Pat Skrip, who had started planting grapes and making wine as a hobby in the 1970s. It's since become one of the more successful wineries in the Lehigh Valley. Clover Hill now has its flagship vineyard and winery in Breinigsville, another one in Robesonia plus tasting rooms at the Allentown and Reading farmers markets.
Clover Hill makes a mix of reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines. Flights and glasses are available, but no bottle service. The standard winery light bites are available: cheese and crackers, charcuterie boards, etc., but no outside food is allowed.
Should be a fun way to cap off the summer regardless and a chance to raise a glass to a successful local winery celebrating 40 years in business.
See you there!
