Talk description:
In this talk, we’ll explore how we rebuilt a highly fragmented Java-based microservice system, 21 services in total (and no, that’s not the Java version!), into a single Elixir monolith. The goal? To streamline our architecture, reduce operational complexity, and leverage the fault-tolerance and scalability of the BEAM.
You’ll learn how we used event-driven design and customer-isolated state machines to power our energy management and dynamic electricity tariff platform. We’ll walk through key architectural decisions, challenges we faced, and the lessons learned along the way — especially in a domain as complex and dynamic as energy trading.
If you’ve ever wondered when a monolith might actually be a good idea, and how Elixir can help you get there, this talk is for you.

Tech Lead at Coneva GmbH. 6+ years of professional software engineering. 2,5 years in Elixir. Coming from Greece, mix of Greek and Russian living in Munich, Germany for more than 5 years.
