Budapest Silent Book Club – Monthly Book Club: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Details
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Monthly Book Club — the discussion edition of the Budapest Silent Book Club for those who enjoy reading the same book and sharing thoughts together.
Each month, we pick a short book or novella (under 200 pages) — something impactful and easy to finish. The focus is on accessible reads and relaxed, thoughtful conversations.
This time, we’ll be diving into a classic of gothic horror: Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886) by Robert Louis Stevenson. This iconic novella explores the dark duality of human nature through the story of a respected London lawyer investigating the strange connection between his old friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the cruel, depraved Edward Hyde. It's a gripping psychological thriller that raises timeless questions about identity, repression, and the terrifying consequences of unleashing our inner demons.
🕕 Time: 18:00–20:00 – Group discussion about the book (no silent reading hour this time)
📍 Location: Altair Teaház
I’ll bring a few discussion prompts, but everyone’s thoughts are welcome. Whether you loved the book, found it strange, or didn’t manage to finish — you’re invited.
