(June) Monthly Book Club: Flesh by David Szalay
Details
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Monthly Book Club, the discussion edition of the Budapest Silent Book Club for those who enjoy reading the same book and sharing thoughts together.
This June, we’ll be reading Flesh by David Szalay. The novel follows a man’s life across different stages, relationships, countries, and social worlds, exploring desire, ambition, class, masculinity, and the strange ways a person’s life can be shaped by circumstance.
It’s a sharp, intimate, and unsettling read that opens the door to deep conversations about identity, power, success, loneliness, and the body’s role in how we move through the world.
🕕 Time: 18:00–20:00 – Group discussion about the book
📍 Location: To be announced one week before the event.
I’ll bring a few discussion prompts, but everyone’s thoughts are welcome. Whether you loved the book, found it heavily debatable, or didn’t quite manage to finish, you’re invited.
