(August) Monthly Book Club: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Details
Welcome to the Monthly Book Club the discussion edition of the Budapest Silent Book Club.
This month, we are entering the strange and beautiful world of Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. (was decided in the last session)
Piranesi lives in the House: an apparently endless labyrinth of halls filled with statues, birds, clouds and rising tides. He believes he knows this world—and the mysterious Other who visits him—but small discoveries begin to suggest that the truth may be far stranger than he imagined.
Together, we’ll discuss the novel’s mysterious world, its unusual narrator, and its ideas about solitude, memory, identity, knowledge and wonder.
