Visiting the recent useR! 2025 conference reminded me how awesome the R community is and how much we missed in the past months by not meeting at local events, so let's fix that ... here we are!

This time, we will host a series of shorter talks covering a wide range of topics: from generating static webpages with R, through Shiny app use-cases, to more technical deep-dives and package demos. • Eszter Ari (ELTE): Is it worth creating and maintaining a scientific CV and/or a group website using Quarto?

I created a website for my CV and started a group website using Quarto. However, I am still hesitant about whether this is the best solution to minimize maintenance while creating an eye-catching website. I am satisfied with the CV, e.g. the Publication part is updated automatically from a Google sheet. However, creating a modern website is a greater challenge for me, even with the help of LLMs. I will show my related successes and struggles, and I am very curious about your opinions.

• Balázs Farkas: Identifying traffic accident hotspots using DBSCAN and Shiny

I'm presenting a Shiny app that I built for my portfolio, using the DBSCAN algorithm to identify traffic accident hotspots in the UK.

• Bence Arató (BI Consulting): R in 2025: tRends and diRections

Looking at the current state of R from an industry perspective.

• Gergely Daroczi: Putting the R in Health

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes ~half a year ago, so I decided to track my energy and carb intake, daily exercises, and blood glucose levels with minimal manual work ... automated with R! Since then, I'm in remission (~normal glucose levels) thanks to a strict diet and some lifestyle change -- and potentially to my R wiring and markdown reports as well 😎 I will highlight the related infrastructure (apps, APIs, databases) and some example results.
