Music for People is an organization that teaches music improvisation as a means of self-expression. Music for People workshops are based in the Northeast but happen throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. They are open to everyone, from complete novice to expert musician. The goal of these workshops is to create a space where every person expresses themselves and connects with others fully through music.
Program director and facilitator Mary Knysh has led workshops around the world as an international teacher/trainer with Music for People, an Orff Schulwerk clinician and teaching artist for the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts, Young Audiences of NJ, and New York BOCES.
Facilitator Leanne Darling is director of the Buffalo Creative Music Group, a classically trained violist and adjunct professor at the University of Buffalo. Both have dedicated themselves to encouraging others to create a new way of listening and playing that is free of judgement and full of inspiration.
