About us
Buffalo Stoicism Club is a casual meetup for people interested in Stoicism, philosophy, and the question of how to live a good life.
We’ll discuss ideas from Stoic thinkers like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus, along with modern interpretations of Stoicism and related philosophical questions. The goal isn’t to lecture or argue for the sake of arguing, but thoughtful disagreement and friendly debate are welcome. We’ll explore how these ideas apply to real life—relationships, work, adversity, happiness, character, and everything in between.
No background in philosophy is required, and you don’t need to consider yourself a Stoic. Curiosity is enough.
Meetings will typically center on a short reading, quotation, or question, followed by open discussion. Reading beforehand will usually be optional.
If you enjoy philosophy, intellectual conversation, or simply thinking seriously about how to live well, you’re welcome to join.
