Informal Coffee

Come join us for coffee at cafe bewilderment on Hertel Ave in Buffalo (https://cafebewilderment.com/) on Friday, March 28 at 8:00 am and we can chat all things WordPress ...or not, as we see fit. This is an informal gathering to get to know one another and talk shop.

** NOTE THIS IS FRIDAY, NOT THURSDAY, AND 8 am, NOT 7:30 **

We had four people at our Meetup March 13 at Elm Street Bakery in East Aurora including Freed, Sophie, Dave, and Sandra. Among other things we talked about:

• Using a Virtual Assistant (a person, not a bott) to help build & maintain sites and as support for small businesses
• Malware in free themes
• Helping clients organize their content for better SEO and to avoid adding sooooo many pages to their sites
• Using Adobe Express to edit photos
• David's garden blog, the seeds he’s planted, and his research into adding a bee hive to his land
• Making a YouTube video
• Using themes vs page builders vs a combination of the two
• WP zoom Meetups, their uses, their differences, and how to find them.
• Font trends, how to choose them and how often to update based on audience and client needs
• Marshall McLuhan's theory that the medium is the message
• Using Figma for workflow
• For designers and people new to building websites
• Attending Codeacademy to strengthen skills and depth of knowledge
• Finding community in a new city when moving there as an adult

I schedule these events at different venues around WNY so everyone can join if they want (and don't want to drive half an hour first thing on a Thursday). If there's another neighborhood or coffee house you'd like me to plan for, put it in the chat. I'm always up for finding new local coffee places.
