Informal Coffee - 9am in Buffalo
Details
We're meeting at Remedy House in Buffalo for this Meetup on Wednesday, June 17 at 9:00 am and we can chat all things WordPress ...or not, as we see fit. This is an informal gathering to get to know one another and talk shop. This will be a little different than our normal meet-up, as this is a working space, not a cafe. We'll provide coffee and treats, so feel free to bring something to share if you'd like or pitch into the kitty.
There were four of us at WP Buffalo’s Meetup May 4 at Convergence Coworking*, and among other things we talked about:
- The echo chamber that is the internet
- AI generated websites and post summaries
- The shift from reading website posts and pages to just reading the search engine AI summaries
- Jeffsom greeking generating
- UI buttons that are graphically confusing
- Charging a fee to create content for client's websites
- Using Claude to review existing website content and find out who's back-linking to your site
- Freelance vs fractional vs consultant
- How to measure success using data and knowing what weight to sign to it, i.e. number of subscribers vs engagement rate
- Including a line on invoices with any discount given to reduce your tax burden
- How to bill clients: Stripe, Quick Books, Ways, making PDFs from Word and Excel
- Building multiple streams of income is called Portfolio Income
- Using all-in-one WP services (GoDaddy) vs integrating individual services (Namecheap, SiteGround, Elementor)
I schedule these events at different venues around WNY so everyone can join if they want (and don't want to drive half an hour first thing on a Thursday). If there's another neighborhood or coffee house you'd like me to plan for, put it in the chat. I'm always up for finding new local coffee places.
* If you're looking for a work space in Hamburg, check this place out. Marie has created a spot that's clean, comfortable and inviting, and can be used for everyday use, meetings, or events. Bring your laptop and enjoy a view of the lake (and city) from the back yard, where you can work in peace with a gorgeous view.
