March 8 Database Seminar - March is for Mongo

Details
This meetup will be at 7PM on Wednesday, March 8, 113A Davis Hall on the UB North Campus.
March is for Mongo
MongoDB is an Open Source Document Data Store and is currently one of the most popular and feature-rich databases of its kind. MongoDB is easy to setup and manage, but like any complex system it is possible to make decisions during setup and use that can lead to trouble down the road, or even put your data at risk.
Tyler Poland has been working with MongoDB for almost 6 years. He currently serves as the Data Support Manager to one of our group sponsors, Engine Yard.
Tyler will discuss the major components of Mongo and the best practices for assembling these into a reliable and manageable infrastructure. He'll also touch a bit on some of the important differences between a Document Data Store and a traditional RDMS; as well as discuss some potential use cases.
Davis Hall is on White Rd, not far from the Bookstore. The Jarvis B lot is just across the road. No parking permit is required after 3PM.
(Special note: We have created a google group, https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/buffalodata (https://groups.google.com/forum/#%21forum/buffalodata), for communicating about this meetup group and other things related to data. While we will continue to advertise on meetup.com and nextplex.com and probably the bocc and buffalolab groups, I will eventually retire my infamous email lists. Please join the group.)
Sponsors for this season are EngineYard (https://www.engineyard.com/) and Stark and Wayne (https://starkandwayne.com/). We will continue our tradition of light refreshments at 7:00 with the presentation at 7:15. Please rsvp https://www.meetup.com/buffalolab/events/237614545/ so we know how many are coming. (Also, if there are any last minute announcements they will be sent to those who have rsvp'd and members of the BuffaloData google group.)
