This will be part 1 on Hardware & Software techniques to ultimately control our vehicle drive and steering motors via Arduino code.

In this meeting, we will take our chosen "Motors Control" method decision (RC and Autonomous user switch OR Autonomous only) and start designing the hardware for it.

This will be presented as a combination Education \ Demo - via Donna walk-through of her build, parts, choices made, diagrams, schematics and start of control control (depth of this content will depend on how far I get in discovery and implementation by the meeting date!!).

Agenda:

  • Donna's Motors control project Education \ Demo style; via motor control techniques applicable to her target RC vehicle
  • Q&A \ Workshop time

Your homework:

  • Purchase your inexpensive RC vehicle
  • Identify its motors specifications and types on-board + battery needs (voltage and current) + study any manual, documentation that came with the vehicle to help with these parameters (Identify what's on-board: Servos, DC motors [Brushed, Brushless], Stepper)
  • Purchase 1 or 2 ESCs or Motor Controller boards which will be compatible with your chosen Arduino board + the on-board motors
  • Review the July Meeting Recording (and preceding months as needed) to understand more of this content - on the Youtube Channel

My expectation is that when you execute your homework assignments, you will encounter questions, find solutions, start assembly [as I know I will] - I encourage all of us to share our challenges, positives and results during the Q&A sections along with project work progress!!
