Build & Learn: Data Science Meetup is for curious minds who love to tinker, build, and explore ideas with data. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn or an experienced data scientist ready to bring a passion project to life, this is your space.
We meet regularly in Berlin to build projects, share ideas, and experiment together — all over good coffee. ☕

🔀 Multiple Learning Tracks
We’re evolving! You can now choose the format that fits your energy, time, and goals:
1. 7-Week Build Cycle (Core Track)
A full project-based journey: go from idea → working project → final showcase.
Structured weekly themes, peer accountability, and a community showcase at the end.
Perfect if you want to build something real and take it all the way.
2. Free Learning Track (new!)
Can’t commit for 7 weeks?
Do a short deep dive into a topic of your choice (e.g., clustering, LLMs, causal inference), then present your learnings or a mini-build to the group.
No pressure, no grades — just shared curiosity and support.
3. Interview Prep Track (coming soon)
We’re launching mock interviews, portfolio review circles, and prep support for folks job-hunting in tech and data.
This may evolve into a paid add-on — but we’ll start with collaborative sessions first.
4. Real Pro Bono Projects (planned for later)
We’re working with real businesses to offer real-world data challenges — like a mini consulting sprint.
This is for anyone who wants hands-on experience solving meaningful problems (and maybe even get hired through it!).

🎉 What We’ve Built – Cohort 1 & 2 Highlights
We’ve completed two 7-week cycles and hosted amazing demo days! Projects included:
• Emotion-Based Movie Recommender – finding films based on how you feel, not just genre
• Computer Vision for Daphnia Research – measuring traits in tiny aquatic animals
• Language Learning with Native Videos – building an app that teaches language through real media
• Plastic Pollution Visualizer – using NATO satellite data
• Tipper Predictor – predicting generous NYC taxi riders
• RFM-Based Customer Segmentation
• TellMe – a location-aware podcast/news generator
• Uplift Modeling for Customer Compensation
• Fake News Detector – trained on Reddit threads
• LLM-Powered Data Dictionary Assistant
Each of these started as a simple idea and grew into something real — built with curiosity, caffeine, and collaboration.
