Building community and solidarity among the addicted and mentally ill

Details
As a person who struggles with mental illness and is a member of an OCD support group, I still experience little sense of any community identity or solidarity among mentally ill and/or addicted persons. This lack of community and solidarity contributes to continued political and social marginalization, inadequate healthcare, and oppressive laws.
This weekly meeting is dedicated to discussing the barriers to creating a politically effective group identity of the addicted and/or mentally ill and brainstorming ways to foster community and solidarity.
A major goal of this Meetup group is encouraging people with addiction and mental illness to advocate forcefully, as unitedly as possible, for policies that will help us to manage, or to recover from, our conditions and live with dignity.
