Building A Home For The Homeless!

Details

Hey everyone!

We are a passionate team of volunteers, engineers, and organizers constructing a tiny home for someone living unhoused. On Saturday, March 29th, we will have our third volunteer event!

At this event, we will finish the floor, stand the walls, put on the roof and get started using recycled plastic panels to sheath the walls. This will be a fun volunteer opportunity with a community lunch, time to socialize, and an experience to learn about the work happening in Portland.

These events are a collaboration between Recycled Living and Cultivate Initiatives to build more affordable, sustainable, and livable homes for Safe Rest Villages in Portland. At our previous build days we framed the four walls and the floor.

We will get started at 11:00am as we set up a free lunch for everyone involved. The lunch will include donations from local businesses in Portland. At noon, we will walk everyone through the various roles and work we will be doing. No prior experience is necessary and everyone can help as they are able.

After the work party, we will have further ways to get involved to stay in this amazing community of Portlanders. There will be more participants than those who have RSVPed here. We hope this event brings lasting warmth and excitement to those who care about our city and everyone who lives here. We can't wait to see you again if you were at the November and February events, and we're excited to meet you if this will be your first time!
