Homelessness Action Night! - Let's Support Our Unhoused Neighbors

Hey everyone!

We are hosting an in-person event to gather Portlanders together to create change with community. The 150 members in our MeetUp Group come together to build sustainable homes for the people who need them. To do this, we are building a coalition of members with the capacity to create the exact change we want to see in our city.

Who are we?
We are a growing team of friends who want to help people and our environment. This work is 100% volunteer. We are a flexible, action-oriented collective of Portlanders.

Our organization has funding, support, and volunteers. We have the capacity to have a tangible impact on society. Now, we are holding an event where you can decide that impact.

Our current project recycles industrial plastic waste into building materials to construct homes for people living unhoused. Our pilot home is being built in a Safe Rest Village in Northeast Portland. As this organization expands, we get to decide what projects we will create and how we want to do it. This Action Night is an opportunity to bring activists, locals, and professionals together to synergize our ideas toward direct action. We have the capacity to create powerful change. Now, let's get together to brainstorm, share, and collaborate on how to do it!

This Action Night will be held at the historic Sellwood Community House. We’ll start at 6:30 PM with free food and drinks donated by local businesses, time to connect with others, and an introduction to the people leading our committees. We’ll hear from professionals about transitional housing and how to start community-driven movements. Then, we’ll break into groups to dive into focused brainstorming sessions—tackling practical questions like how to fundraise, as well as big-picture ideas around how we can most effectively support people living unhoused. The brainstorming sessions will be open-ended and driven by your voice. Each group will present their ideas, and by the end of the evening, every committee will have clear next steps for moving forward. This is your chance to meet others, share ideas, and get excited about the future!
