What we’re about
This proposed group is for guys over the age of 18 who want to look at and try to work on challenges they have in their lives at present. This would be via a Medicare subsidised therapeutic group, (i.e. needing a GP referral) with me (Colin Longworth) a mature-aged bloke, who is also a registered psychologist.
This stuff to be dealt with in the group could include;
Steps that can be taken to maintain or improve the guys mental health;
How the guys relate to others (e.g. partners, co-workers, parents, mates);
Dealing with stuff from their past that they want to overcome;
Self-esteem or self-worth challenges;
Improving their relationships;
Being a better role model, sibling or parent or partner;
Alcohol and or other drug issues;
Challenges in the individual guy’s life;
Other issues as decided by the group;
The group would be up to 10 guys plus me, the psychologist. The group would need 8-10 participants, to be financially viable and eligible for Medicare rebates. Each individual, can get up to a total of ten Medicare subsidised sessions in a calendar year. (This is separate to any 1:1 session you may have with another psychologist.)
The proposed venue would be relatively close to my Huntingdale office. Although an alternative location could be considered, if there is enough interest in an alternative location, and a suitable venue can be found.
Colin Longworth as facilitator has, in addition to other life experiences, previously co-facilitated groups for Domestic Violence offenders and a Drug and Alcohol program in a Prison Farm setting. He also regularly sees clients in his sole practitioner private Psychology practice (and about 70% of his clients are guys).
Please see the blog on the Huntingdale Psychology Counselling & Clinical Hypnotherapy webpage for further information, complete this survey, (if potentially interested) or email info@hpcch.com.au for enquiries.
