What we’re about
During the summer, I practice with a couple of friends in a park every Tuesday and Thursday. If you live in Stockholm and would like to try Japanese martial arts, you're welcome to join us.
Bujinkan is a traditional Japanese martial art, or, to be precise, it’s a combat system that combines nine different martial arts schools. The organization was founded by Masaaki Hatsumi in 1973.
Previously, the art was known as Ninjutsu and Ninpo Taijutsu, but in 1995, Hatsumi Sensei changed the name to Budo Taijutsu to reflect the art as a whole, since only three of the schools belong to Ninjutsu; the remaining six are samurai schools.
In Bujinkan, we work with punches, kicks, joint locks, throws, falls, and jumps. At some point, you will practice with different weapons such as swords, sticks, ropes, etc., but the main focus is on Taijutsu — natural body movements which you can apply with or without weapons.
There are no competitions within Bujinkan.
