Join VOF Staff for a guided hike on the Preserve's North Section. Explore the cultural history in the walls, springs, cemeteries, and house foundations of families who previously lived in the Bull Run Mountains and learn how they used the land.

Here's to a fresh and adventurous start to 2026

When: Sunday, January 4th, 10:00 AM
Where: Meet at the NORTH SECTION parking lot on Hungry Run Road.

As it is winter and as the trails are primitive, expect a moderate challenge (800ft elevation change) on this 6-mile hike. Come well-prepared with water, snacks, and warm clothing. There are no facilities on the North Section.

Please keep an eye on this event, as the date is subject to change if the winter weather gets too rough. If there is light snow and ice, be prepared to hike in it. Ice spikes for shoes or good winter hiking boots / poles are recommended.

Email Conservation Assistant Deneith Reif at **dreif@vof.org** if you have any questions

As always, a friendly reminder to leave dogs at home, as they are not allowed on the preserve.
