Trail Volunteer Day

Details

Join VOF preserve staff and volunteers for a workday along our brand new trail!

This month's workday will involve clearing and construction of a new reroute. There may also be some invasive plant removal.

This is highly physical activity that is geared towards improving the publicly-accessible trails at Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve. Each workday activity varies as work is needed on the trail system.

For October, expect clipping branches and clearing brush on uneven terrain with handtools such as McLeods.
All tools and materials are provided by Virginia Outdoors Foundation
Please bring leather work gloves and be on time.

We will meet at the east entrance gate (at the top of the hill, the gate has a green banner and a mailbox out in front) at the Preserve's South Section at 9:30am. There will be signs showing where to park!

We strongly encourage wearing field-appropriate clothing for trail work: long pants/field pants, work gloves (extras are available should you need them), long sleeves, a hat and sunscreen. Bring plenty of water and any snacks if you desire them. Our workdays generally last from 3 to 4 hours but are flexible.

All workdays are subject to weather - should there be an excess of high-winds and thunderstorms, we will cancel! If you have any questions about the workday please contact

Conservation Assistant Deneith Reif at dreif@vof.org or at (540) 614-9849
