About us
You grew up in NYC. But, at some point, you needed to leave. You were paying a mansion mortgage to share a converted studio with a friend of a friend. You kept getting kicked in the face by the hat-flipping-pole-spinning performers on the E train. A large rat stole the pizza right out of your hand on the corner of 42nd and 7th. You had your reasons. You moved to Durham, and you love it here, except…you’re struggling to build community.
You’ve tried meetups, clubs, dog parks, bars. You bought jogging tights, rock climbing shoes, and tiny paint brushes, but you’re not hardcore enough about running to/from breweries, indoor bouldering, or figurine painting to really relate through that. You’ve found that most people have closed friend groups, or just want to do hobbies without the relationship part, or are themselves leaving Durham to start anew. You love Durham, but wrestle with the feeling that you’ll never have roots here. This group is for you.
This group is a space to meet people who bring a sense of familiarity, home, and a propensity to talk quickly. We share similar struggles, and through that, we build relationships that help us grow new roots in an old city.
