Solstice hike at Solstice Canyon with optional potluck afterwards

Celebrate the solstice with a beautiful hike at the Solstice Canyon on Friday evening.
• What we'll do: Arrive at the inner parking lot of Solstice Canyon at 3455 Solstice Canyon Rd, Malibu, CA 90265, at 5:45 pm for sign-ups and waiver forms, wait for people to show up and start hiking at 6:00 pm. Hike statistics of 4 miles with 670 feet gain (estimate 2 hours).
We take breaks to enjoy the scenery and take pictures.
• What to bring: Bottled water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and snacks!
• After the hike: Summer solstice potluck at Malibu Bluffs Park at 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265, with estimate start time of 8:15 pm. Last names starting with A, B, C, D, E, F can bring snacks
G, H, I. J, K, L can bring main dish, M, N, O, P, Q, R can bring beverage, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z can bring veggies/fruits.
Please provide extra time (e.g. 15 to 20 minutes) for yourself to reach the trailhead due to the Friday work/commuter traffic. We start hiking at 6:00 pm sharp to finish before sundown. There is no cell coverage inside the canyon or parking lot; so we will not get your call or text if you try to contact us at the last minute. Overflow parking available at 3998 Solstice Canyon Rd, Malibu, CA or PCH.
This is a kid friendly event. Well-behaved dogs on leash allowed. The hike is a front country outing sponsored by the Sierra Club (but the potluck picnic is not).
