Let's hike to Twin Springs in Monrovia Canyon Park
Details
• What we'll do
This is a moderate hike, 6 to 7 miles round trip, with a few strenuous sections, so hiking poles will be helpful. Bring 2 quart waters, hat, sunscreen and snacks! We will go up the Ben Overturff trail until we reach the Twin Springs area where we will take a snack break. Then we will hike back down on the fire road. The trail is 3/4 in shade. Depending on weather, exposed sections can get hot or may be covered in morning mist. We will take breaks for water, photos and to enjoy the forest scenery. Pretty wildflowers will still be in bloom and the sound of the stream below the trail is soothing and refreshing. Although the park does allow dogs, we do not encourage you to bring your dog due to prior incident of heat exhaustion (dog died).
• Important to know
Parking is $6.00 or you can park free in the neighborhood and walk an extra 0.5 miles to our meeting point.
We meet at the First Rangers station and will start hiking by 7:30 am, so arrive at least 15 minutes early to find a parking spot. If the parking next to the First Rangers station is full, you can drive to the upper parking lot and walk back to our meeting point.
