San Juan Bautista - farther afield South

San Juan Bautista is about 35 minutes south of San Jose, a short jaunt off 101. A lovely historic town with funky shops, old West buildings, and of course the famous Mission. Buildings, trees and gardens, even views across an agricultural valley toward the mountains. A fun spot with lots of subjects.

On-street parking. Fees to enter mission building but not to wander around and paint the outside.
