Great Endings with Robin McLean
Details
Join us for a master class on Zoom with award winning fiction writer Robin McLean.
Dear Writers: this class is now full. If you have not received confirmation, email dickmatheson44@gmail.com We'll be asking Robin back in the future, so we'll all have a chance to work with her.
In this generative session we will experiment with writing endings, those we know, those we don't know and something in between. What makes an ending work? What is an ending? Why do we need them? As always, the aim will be adventure and discovery - for writers to find themselves writing lines and in directions that feel entirely new. Please join us for this writing exploration.
Robin has taught masterclasses for BWW and how we loved her! Her new novel Pity The Beast is due out in November to rave reviews, including this one from Nobel Winner, JM Coetzee: ‘Not since Faulkner have I read American prose so bristling with life and particularity.’ And here's what the Paris Review wrote about her short story collection, Reptile House: "McLean does not shrink the world down to interpersonal conflict, but instead opens it up to achieve a cosmic perspective that somehow feels both dispassionate and compassionate (Chekhov’s trick)."
She’s taught writing for a decade and now directs writing at the Ike’s Canyon Ranch, an extreme-remote writers’ outpost in the high plains desert of central Nevada.
