Hike: Buntzen Lake Loop Trail
Anyone who is planning to visit the Buntzen Lake area between May 15 – September 1, 2025, and travel there by car will be required to get a free online parking (https://yodelportal.com/buntzen-lake) reservation from BC Hydro before arriving at the recreation area.
The Buntzen Lake Loop is a scenic, well-marked trail that encircles the beautiful Buntzen Lake near Anmore. This forested loop offers a mix of flat stretches, rolling hills, and a few short but steep sections. It’s a favorite among locals for its tranquil atmosphere, lake views, suspension bridge, and opportunities to spot wildlife.
The trail features a mix of gravel paths, wooden bridges, and some rooty or rocky sections—sturdy footwear is recommended. While the distance makes it a bit more challenging than a casual stroll, it’s very doable for most active walkers or hikers.
Distance: ~10 km loop
Time: 3 to 4 hours (moderate pace with breaks)
Elevation Gain: ~200 m

• Swimsuit and towel if you want to dip in the lake afterward
Notes:
• Dogs are allowed but must be on leash (there is also an off-leash beach area)
• Arrive early—parking can fill up fast on weekends and sunny days
