What we’re about

Welcome to Burnaby Startups & Entrepreneurs, where the vibes are cool, boundaries are pushed, and opportunities are endless. You'll be joining a passionate group of like-minded folks who love to hustle, dream big, and learn from one another.

Our community believes in the power of collaboration and the value of networking, but hate the hard-selling or being sold to. Whether you're looking for co-founders or just some cool folks to hang out with, or you're simply curious about entrepreneurship and how to start a small business... you'll find it all here. From social meetups to dynamic workshops and talks, we've got something for everyone.

The goal is to put on at least 1-2 events per month, mainly weeknight evenings (possibly weekends as well). If you have an ideal venue in Burnaby that could host and/or would like to be a sponsor or prize donor, please drop us a line.

Why should you join a Board?
What if you have no Board experience?

Back by popular demand, we spill the tea on what it takes for someone to join the Board of a non-profit organization. And while it doesn't guarantee you'll get a seat, the process itself is surprisingly simple and straightforward.

Beta Collective founder Jason Wong (also the founder of this Burnaby Startups Meetup Group) has over 15 years of Board experience, and has had the great privilege of serving on numerous boards, councils, and committees throughout his career. As both a Gen-X/Millennial and a racialized minority, he would like nothing more than to see even greater equity and diversity on Boards.

The goal for this workshop is to help encourage the introverted, the underrepresented, the youthful, and everyone in-between -- to bring their unique lens and skills to boardrooms across Metro Vancouver and beyond.

This workshop is intended for people with absolutely no board experience, but would like to discover their "why", find an impactful way to boost their career, and make a positive impact on their community.

Yup, you read that right. We're piloting a new model to better manage headcount and minimize no-shows. You'll still get to enjoy complimentary bagels, tea/coffee, and snacks. We're just asking for a little skin in the game -- plus you get to stay here all day until 5pm!

So bring $5 cash, your laptop, headphones, and a lunch (or try the famous Mama's Rice Bowl downstairs), and join us at Beta Collective Burnaby on the 2nd Thursday of every month!

Grab a hot desk, chill in the lounge, hang in the conference room, take zoom calls in a phone booth, or check out the podcast room. No matter where you're working, you'll achieve maximum productivity in our flexible workspace with blazing fast wi-fi to boot!

If there's too many distractions at home, or you're tired of noisy coffee shops...then a coworking space may be the answer.
