We Lead - The Art of Collective Leadership
Details
We are very honoured and excited to welcome Louise Van Rhyn and Thembalethu Seyisi to come and talk to us about the inspirational stories that they have shared in this book. It really speaks to the collective and collaborative nature of what we should be driving in the agile world.
Agile was built on a powerful insight: in conditions of complexity and change, we cannot predict everything in advance. We need to organise around people and interactions, learn from experience and remain responsive to what emerges. We Lead: The art of collective leadership. From South Africa to the world starts from a closely related insight about leadership: no individual can know enough, see enough or lead enough on their own.
Drawing on stories of collective leadership from South Africa, We Lead explores the relational practices that help people think, learn and act together: inviting contribution, holding certainty lightly, listening courageously, tapping into collective wisdom and harnessing difference. For Agile practitioners, it offers an opportunity to explore a compelling question: what kind of leadership creates the conditions for people to exercise agency, self-organise and make their best contribution when no one has the map?
