The Refugee in You and Me

Details

Have you ever wondered where your ancestors came from? The history of humanity is one of movement, and we all have a story of resilience in our family trees. From fleeing war and
persecution to surviving famine and natural disasters, the journey of refugees is a part of our collective heritage.
Join us on June 20th, 2025, from 5 to 8 pm at Parc Cinquantenaire, as we explore the personal and emotional connections that bind all of us to the stories of refugees. Through
engaging materials, interactive activities, and thought-provoking questions, we invite you to reflect on your own family history and how it relates to the experiences of refugees today.

Discover Your Connection
● Explore "family" photo albums filled with images and stories from individuals who have had to flee their homes
● Add your own story to our world maps, tracing the journeys of your ancestors and connecting them to the experiences of refugees today
● Share your thoughts and feelings on our engagement board, and see how your story fits into the larger story of humanity’s journey to safety

Engage with Stories
● Learn about the remarkable journeys of individuals who have overcome incredible
challenges to build new lives.
● Discover the stories of recent refugees from Eritrea, Syria, and Ukraine, and how they are rebuilding their lives in Belgium and beyond

Join the Conversation
● Meet like-minded individuals and engage in meaningful discussions about the refugee experience, now and in the past.
● Share your ideas on how we can support refugees in our communities and create a more welcoming and inclusive society

This event is open to everyone, and we invite you to join us for an evening of discovery, reflection and connection.
