Bok Tower at Night

There is an excellent nightscape opportunity coming up. Bok Tower Gardens is holding its Concert under the Stars series. It's one of the few times you can explore this fantastic place after hours.

The first concert is on March 4 at 7 PM. Concert goers will be allowed to set up by 3 PM. The ticket price is $40 for non-members and $48 day of the concert. The ticket price includes general admission to the Gardens.

The concern is that the weather is the "x" factor with an event like this. Still, there are limited tickets available, and the concert is rain or shine.

• 5:57 PM Golden Hour - Photograph the Tower from the South Side and then head to Exedra Overlook.
• 6:28 PM Sunset - Civil Twilight - Photograph the sunset at the Exedra Overlook - Head back to the South Side of the Tower.
• 6:43 PM Blue Hour - Photograph the Tower from the South Side.
• 6:52 PM Nautical Twilight - Photograph the Tower from the South Side and begin the Star Trail session - about an hour of total exposure is needed.
• 7:00 PM Concert Begins.
• 8:00 PM - Head down to the concert.
• 9:00 PM Concert Ends.
• 9:01 PM Go Home.

The Band: Founded in 1970, Asleep at the Wheel has been part of the American roots music landscape for more than 50 years. Although the band started on a farm in Paw Paw, West Virginia, Asleep at the Wheel became a cornerstone of the Austin, Texas, scene upon its arrival in 1973. Inspired by Western swing and honky-tonk country, the band has accrued 10 Grammy Awards. In the fall, a career retrospective recorded with the current lineup -- and a few special guests -- will carry the band back onto the road, where they've remained a staple for five decades.

# Bok Tower, KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Ticketing: The ticket price includes general admission to the Gardens. All ticket holders will receive a concert wristband at the entrance gate, and this wristband must be visible at all times. The Entrance Gate will close at 8:00 PM, and late arrivals will not be admitted. Purchasing in advance is recommended as the capacity is limited to 600 tickets, and the gate will close if the capacity is reached. Seating and What to Bring: Concerts will be performed on the Oval Lawn, and seating will be available on a first-come basis. Ticket holders can begin setting up at 3:00 PM. Blankets and low lawn chairs are permitted. Restrooms will be available at the Visitor Center. A mosquito repellent station will be provided; however, you may want to bring your own supplies. Flashlights are also recommended.

What Not to Bring: While outside food & beverage are not permitted, you can purchase food and beverage on site. Dogs are also not allowed during the evening concerts.
