Book Launch: "Not for Greens" by Ian Plimer, a critique of environmentalists.
Details
We will meet at Fire and Ice Bar, Subiaco, for the launch of "Not for Greens". The author, Professor Ian Plimer, holds elite academic positions as well as directorships of a number of mining and exploration companies, yet it is his strong skeptical views on climate change that have brought him prominence in the broader media and public debate.
"Not for Greens" alleges that much of the original environmental movement has morphed into unelected extremist green political pressure groups accountable to no one and their policies have resulted in rising costs, increased taxes, political instability, energy poverty, decreased longevity and environmental degradation.
The book uses the humble teaspoon to show how the modern world could not operate without exploration, mining, smelting and international finance and trade, all of which require large amounts of energy 24/7.
We will commence with drinks and mingling followed by a speech by Prof. Plimer, an interview-style Q&A and finally questions from the audience. We have a limit to the number of attendees so RSVP today!
