During the month of February, Impact Hub Johannesburg (IHJ) will focus is on financial wellness and savviness. This is after the long month of Jan-u-worry (January), where after having spent most of their financial reserves; the average South African is now working with deficit, praying their way to pay day! Through the Money Matters Series, IHJ wants to emotionally and intellectually equip individuals to build healthier relationships with money.
We have two amazing speakers lined up for this series on the 15th and 28th of Feb (R150 per session or R280 for both) and our monthly Fuck-Up night on the 22nd of Feb (free of charge) will continue the theme of Money matters as we dedicate an entire month to all things financial. *** 15 Feb 2018 6pm to 9pm Wealthy Money by Vangile Makwakwa, Personal Finance Speaker and Author *** Vangile is the author of Heart, Mind & Money: Using Emotional Intelligence for Financial Success. She’s the founder of wealthy-money.com as well as a financial coach and the creator of Wealthy Money Academy.
Vangile helps women fall in love with their bank accounts, heal their ancestral money stories and create money magic so they can travel.
In the last 5 years she’s paid off US$60,000 in debt, gotten a yoga teaching certificate, been featured in various media and embarked on a new journey as a digital nomad, building her company as she travels.
She’s lived in over 6 countries (USA, South Africa, the UK, South Korea, India, Thailand).
She has a Business Science Finance Degree from UCT and an MBA from the Simmons School of Management in Boston, MA.

*** 28 Feb 6pm to 9pm Mandisa Zavala, Currency-Risk Strategist ***
In March 2014, Mandisa joined Allan Gray as an Investment Consultant, where she played a key role in the stewardship of positive client and adviser relationships. In this role, some of her duties were to respond assist clients on understanding an investment product and its performance profile across the business cycle, provide legislative or process information on the available offerings, and assist financial advisers, where necessary, with financial planning tools.
While in this role, Mandisa found her passion for investments, and subsequently joined Boutique Investment Partners as an Investment Analyst. She has been with this team for close to three years now and does not regret a second of it. Upon joining, she was immediately trained into the position of Head of Asset Allocation
At the end of 2017, she was awarded the role of Currency-Risk Strategist, which allows her to not only monitor the different currencies the portfolios are exposed to (to identify any potential risks), but to also formulate the team’s current Strategic view on the Global Economy, thereby formulating the House’s Macro Regime view.
