Join us for an evening with Jason Brush and Matt Yoka!

Details

Join us for a one-two-punch of incredible interactive work. The evening begins with Matt Yoka, director of Ty Segall's new interactive music video "Manipulator." Yoka will perform a live screening of the video, and discuss how he came up with its cut-and-paste, maximalist aesthetic.

Next up is the main event: a compact talk and Q & A session with Cannes Lion-award-winning UX designer and media theorist Jason Brush. Brush will speak about why interactive filmmaking represents the cutting edge of storytelling, and will give an overview of the past, present and future of this rapidly evolving form.

Jason Brush is Executive Creative Director and EVP of UX at POSSIBLE, where he oversees Creative and User Experience Design in the agency’s Los Angeles branch, and User Experience Design globally. His work has won the Cannes Lions Gold (for Google Art Project), three Interactive Emmys (for ABC.com (http://ABC.com/) and NBC ‘s online broadcast of the Beijing Olympics), and the Industrial Design Society of America’s IDEA Bronze (for Samsung Handset UI), among other awards. Recent projects he has lead include the interface of the PlayStation 4, GatesFoundation.org (http://GatesFoundation.org/), dashboard interfaces for the BMW i3, and in-classroom education applications for Pearson Education. Jason teaches at UCLA‘s Department of Film, Television & Digital Media, and at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and holds an MFA in Film Directing from UCLA.

Matt Yoka is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and frequent collaborator with Ty Segall. He was a Collaborative Fellow at UnionDocs from 2010-2011, and in 2014 graduated USC's Annenberg School of Journalism's Masters program, where he received a Pulitzer scholarship. In between, he rose from intern to journalist to field producer at VICE, and created work that appeared on such platforms as the Awl and KPCC. He's currently working on his first feature-length documentary.
