Data Curiosity Meetup – Hadoop & High-Performance Computing

Details
Directions for tonight:
Enter
the Pickle Campus at 10100 Burnet Road. Drive straight past the first
little kiosk (it will be closed for the night) to the next building at the
fence. The security guard will come out. Tell them you’re coming to TACC,
building 196. From the guard building/gate, drive straight about 500 and turn right on Road A. Drive to the end of Road A, just before the exit on to Braker, and turn right. Go past the driveway for BEG (two entrances) and turn right (you’ll see cinderblocks on your left). The Stampede data center building is directly ahead (the road jogs left to go around it), so park near that doorway. Most of the spaces in back are open after hours, but watch out for the parking signs!

Did you know that the 7th most powerful supercomputer in the world is housed at the Texas Advanced Computing Center(TACC) at the JJ Pickle Research Campus? Tackling Big Data challenges spans the entire IT space from applications to infrastructure. Join us for food, fun and conversation as Dr. Niall Gaffney, TACC’s Director of Data Intensive Computing, talks about the advances taking place in this evolving space around Hadoop and supercomputing.
