The DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is a free, week-long, outdoor music festival held in Rodney Square in the heart of downtown Wilmington, DE.

Multitalented and internationally famous jazz legend, – a composer, arranger, lyricist, producer – and tenor saxophonist of world note, Benny Golson was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 25, 1929. Raised with an impeccable musical pedigree, Golson has played in the bands of world famous Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Earl Bostic and Art Blakey. Three of the main cats whose musical passion and groove intensity defines the truest heart and soul of today’s contemporary jazz, Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown share a collective love for the old school. Each infuses his solo projects with a mix of classic R&B and soul-jazz influences, none greater than those classic late 60’s-early 70’s CTI recordings featuring legends like George Benson, Freddie Hubbard, Bob James and Ron Carter re-interpreting contemporary pop songs in a fresh, free-wheeling way.

Born to R&B/Soul music royalty, most people know her simply as the daughter of late Soul music legend, Donny Hathaway. But there is more to her than that. A trained pianist and vocalist, she is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music and her career has spanned two decades. 21 years after the release of her first LP, her career continues to thrive.

Wilmington Parking Authority
FREE parking at the 8th & Orange Street surface parking (Wilmington Parking Authority) lot weekdays after 5 pm and all day Saturday.
Flat rate of $4 to park in the HyPark Garage (Colonial Parking) on the 900 block of Orange & 900 block of Shipley Streets (an entrance on both streets). The rate is good after 5 pm on weekdays and all day Saturday.
Metered parking is free after 6 pm on weekdays and all day on the weekends.

Here are some tips to make your festival experience more enjoyable:
Please note: for insurance purposes, we will not be able to allow outside alcohol to be brought into the venue. As always, alcohol will be available for purchase. Please note: coolers and backpacks may be searched on entrance to park.

There are benches in the park which offer very limited seating. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Bringing your own refreshments is not prohibited; however, we encourage festival guests to enjoy the variety of food & beverages available for sale from our vendors.
Proceeds from these sales go to support the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival.
No glass is permitted in the park.
Please keep pets at home.
