Apache Flink and NiFi

Hi Everyone,

This month's meeting will be about two talks, Karel Alfonso from ThoughtWorks is going to talk about Apache Flink, and you can see the abstruct below.

Also Ned Shawa is going to talk about project NiFi, but he is too "cool" to send me an abstract ;)

Apache Flink: Unifying batch and stream processing - Karel Alfonso

In this presentation I want to explore the convergence between stream and batch processing on a single platform. Especially Apache Flink being a recent technology added to the Hadoop family, I'd like to explore it's streaming capabilities and where it sits within the Hadoop ecosystem. This is more sharing at a personal level as I haven't had any practical professional experience with Flink (yet :-D)

About the speaker:
I'm a lead consultant from Thoughtworks, have been with TWs for over 5 years working across different industries like: telcos, insurance, real estate, etc. Over a year or so I've been working in data engineering solutions applied to recommendations, classification and ETL process.
