Featured Guest Speaker - W8 Apps What you Must Know
Jeffrey Richter - Co-founder of Wintellect & author of many top books for Windows & .NET
Windows Store apps promise secure applications and end-user confidence. A big part of this is related to how Windows Store apps are packaged and deployed. In this talk, Jeff walks through all the steps that Visual Studio performs when building and signing a Windows Store app package. Time will be spent on the application manifest and how to configure your package's capabilities and declarations.
In addition, Jeff describes the difference between package family names and package full names and how Windows uses these internally in order to manage the installation, upgrade, and uninstallation of your package as well as per-application and per-user data. Once your app is packaged, Jeff will discuss the various deployments models (testing, enterprise side-loading, and the Windows Store). Finally, he'll also talk about application staging, registration, and debugging.
