About Yin Yang Yoga...A typical Yoga class is ‘Yang’ in style and focuses on active heating and muscular contraction - by combining it with ‘Yin’, a more passive, nourishing, and cooling practice, this uniquely designed class WILL balance your whole being in training!

Why For Runners/Athletes? - Lengthening and releasing effect from repetitive movements (overuse) on sheets of connective tissue can overtime shorten and tighten in ingrained patterns around muscles. This fascia restriction can make one more prone to having injuries, abnormal posture, and inefficiency, as well as asymmetrical weakening. By targeting rotated key areas in weekly Yin Yang Yoga class, one can better release tension, move with ease, and benefit from improved posture and injury prevention. In addition, increased respiratory control and focus have been reported by students.

The Yin Yang Yoga for Runners class begins with series of held Yin floor postures to open the meridian/chakras pathways of the body. While surrendering into the edge of each pose for 2-5 minutes, students are guided in the cultivation of observance and breath, as they experience release of connective tissues and the stagnant energy around the hips, thighs, and lower back. Awareness is emphasized to sensations in the body that are grounding and powerful experience of the NOW. The Yang or moving practice allows students to integrate the newly released energy, joint spaces for circulation, and flexibility, into vigorous strengthening postures and movement sequences. Freedom of breath, alignment, and mental clarity will be elicited deeply during, after the class, and into one's training.
