The "Chess & Chat" club was an idea that came up during an English lesson in a Hamburg company in early January 2021. We then created an online page for our small group at ....

https://www.englishtrainers.org/online-chess-club

.... and started to meet online. Usually on Sundays, usually now at 21.00h

We will hold regular tournaments - and give some small prizes for the winning language learner and the winning English Trainer. (see below)

Tournament Rules

  • You will need to be a member of chess.com to enter and should send a "friend request" to Will McCulloch on Chess.com
    https://www.chess.com/member/willmcculloch59
    before the event takes place.
  • The knockout stages will run over a period of 1 or 2 weeks depending on how many people enter.
  • Each round of the tournament should be played by the given deadline date.
  • The final may be played live during a future online meeting (the players can also play privately if they prefer).
  • All game results should be sent via a message to willmcculloch59 on chess.com immediately after a completed game by the winning player ( who will then be informed of their next opponent as soon as possible)

Tournament Prizes

  • the winning (or highest performing) learner will receive 4 x 60 minute group English lessons ( which can either be taken personally or given to a friend) .
  • the winning (or highest performing) English Trainer will receive one week of highlighted promotion on the englishtrainers.org website and its associated social media platforms.

Looking forward to

  • meeting everybody at 21.00 on Sunday 21st Feb (but it's also ok if you arrive a little later)
  • making the tournament draw at about 21.15
  • having at least one game before getting knocked out ...

All the best
