This month, we'll have Mike Pountney talking about his experience automating the testing of a Fastly-based CDN with Go.

In the spirit of infrastructure-as-code, we should be trying to describe the behaviour of all component systems in our stack in both code to configure the system, and test that it behaves as expected.

Content delivery networks are no exception to this rule; despite being an often fundamental part of edge behaviour of your site, they are not necessarily configured via API, and even when they are their behaviour is not tested to match the configuration applied.

This talk will focus on Mike's experience at a previous employer working as part of a team to describe their CDN behaviour in this manner, and the subsequent reapplication of this testing at Yelp.

About Mike

Mike looks after the needs of the engineers in his EU Ops Team at Yelp. He's been involved in the devops space after being lucky enough to be one of the few at the inaugural devopsdays in Ghent, and has been preaching the virtues of configuration management since the early 2000's. He loves making stuff for no apparent gain, and so is a big fan of hackerspaces world over. He lives in Brighton with his wife and baby, and doesn’t get to go out mountain biking as much as he’d like to.

Big thanks to Udemy for sponsoring this month's meetup. Please note that this meetup will be in the CHQ building, and not on Barrow St. Please enter from the Liffey side of the CHQ building. The event will be held in the last room, over looking the Liffey
