Tired of sharing your google docs on google spreadsheets. Come learn how to build a simple dashboard using Google. Along the way you will learn how to create charts using your data, how merge different datasets and in general, make your data analysis easier - all using Google tools.

Required: A laptop that can run Google Drive & a Google account (https://accounts.google.com/signup). No prior programming skills needed. Basic Excel skills might be helpful

In this lab we will review the state of research and technology for emotional measurement in learning analytics. 1) Briefly discuss the Measuring and Understanding Learner Emotions: Evidence and Prospects (http://www.laceproject.eu/publications/learning-analytics-and-emotions.pdf) produced by the Learning Analytics Community Exchange (LACE (http://www.laceproject.eu/)). 2)Briefly talk about The neurobiology of emotion–cognition interactions: fundamental questions and strategies for future research from the open journal Frontiers (http://www.frontiersin.org/). 3) Review a variety of technologies for measuring emotion and discuss the various strengths and challenges providing code snippets to interface with APIs and conduct sentiment analysis referencing challenges in measure non-cognitive skills outlined in Measurement Matters: Assessing Personal Qualities Other Than Cognitive Ability for Educational Purposes (http://edr.sagepub.com/content/44/4/237.full.pdf+html?ijkey=hixxiPxVRpaxg&keytype=ref&siteid=spedr).
