.NET South East Humanitarian Toolbox Codeathon with Richard Campbell
Details
On Saturday 20th January we will be running a 1 day codeathon to support the Humanitarian Toolbox, allReady project. We are delighted to be joined by Richard Campbell (co-founder and .NET Rock co-host) for a day of coding and development towards this active OSS project, in use by the American Red Cross to help save lives.
What is allReady?
"While we can’t stop disasters from happening, we can lessen their impact on our families and the communities we live in by being prepared. Preparedness is a key factor in reducing impacts and together citizens & organisations can build resilient communities. No one can eliminate disasters, but together we can be ready to be safer, save lives and recover faster when the unexpected happens. allReady brings together community members, volunteers, humanitarian and community organizations to make our communities more resilient to the effects of disasters by making preparedness activities more visible and effective to the communities they serve and the volunteers who support them.
In fact, allReady itself came from a group of folks across non-profits, software organisations and open source communities who volunteered to work together to build a solution to connect communities with opportunities to prepare, bringing communities and volunteers together, and increasing community preparedness.” – Humanitarian Toolbox

Madgex are kindly providing a pizza lunch for contributors and a post event catered selection of sandwiches and crisps etc.
What to bring:
You will need to bring a laptop device in order to develop and contribute during the event. The allReady project can be developed on Mac or Windows. Please see the pre-requisite install guide at https://github.com/HTBox/allReady/blob/master/docs/prerequisite_install_guide/prerequisite_install_guide.md and prepare your device before the event.
You'll need to have a GitHub account and have forked and cloned the allReady code. Please ensure prior to the event that the code builds as we then have more time to resolve issues, prior to the event. For a guide on forking and cloning see this video I made... Important to know:
Spaces are limited due to room layout. Please only RSVP if you are sure you can make it so we can have the most active contributions on the day of the codeathon.
